The history of SELLE ITALIA begins in 1897. The company is founded on the outskirts of Milan, in the town of Corsico. Due to the high prices of cars, the bicycle becomes the basic means of transport. Therefore, Selle Italia manufactures saddles for transport bikes. A big jump takes place in 1970. when the Bigolin family takes over, and the bicycle function changes from transport to sporting. The company has started a new road producing innovative products using new construction techniques and using new materials. Selle Italia is synonymous with high-end bicycle saddles.
The combination of low weight and incredible strength translates into sustained popularity among professional and amateur cyclists. The best properties of carbon fiber combined with attractive styling created the winning saddle.
The most important features:
Fibra-Tek - Durable and breathable synthetic leather cover
Light - The lowest possible weight with maximum strength
30% Carbon - Saddle made of 30% carbon fiber
Carbo Keramic 7 x 9 mm - Ceramic rods covered with a ceramic coating to protect at the place of the clamp. Three-dimensional braided fiber inside the bars, the optimal combination of the best combination of fibers. The rods are characterized by the lowest possible weight with maximum strength at the same time. They weigh only 29 g and the cyclist's weight limit is 100 kg.
The IDMatch system: The new saddle measurement system created by Selle Italia was developed on the basis of anthropometric and functional measurements of cyclists. The system is measured as follows: width between trochurs (this is the distance measured on the outside of the femurs), thigh circumference and pelvic position. On the basis of the measurement of the width between the trochurs that we obtain using a specialized measure, we obtain the width between the sciatic tumors, i.e. the parameter determining the width of the saddle. The second parameter that is measured is the thigh circumference, this is important especially for people who narrowly lead their knees while driving and rub their thighs against the saddle. The third and last is to measure the position of the pelvis with the forward slope, it allows you to determine whether a saddle with or without a hole is needed. The results of the above measurements are entered on the IDMatch website where, after making the calculations, the system suggests a suitable saddle for us. The saddles are divided into categories S1, S2, S3 and L1, L2, L3. Saddles from the S category are narrow saddles, the L category is wide saddles, the number after the letter means whether the saddle should be with a hole and with a large one.
